ISU Society of Physics Students
(SPS)
What is the SPS?
It is a student club made up of Physics, Education, Engineering, Math,
and Chemistry majors
and graduate students with a common interest in science and social
activities, educational
outreach, and general mayhem.
Campus Demo Shows
Every year the SPS and the Dept. of Physics present a demo show
open to the campus
and public chock full of explosions, fire, and major destruction, all
educational of course.
Educational Outreach
The SPS has hosted a Haunted Physics Lab for Halloween that has
entertained and educated hundreds of children in the community each
year since 2001. We also visit K-12 schools and present exciting
educational
demonstration
shows to help improve interest in physics and the sciences.
Field Trips
We have several field trips each year to places such as EBR1, planetariums,
the Idaho National Laboratory, regional demo shows, nearby ski resorts, and regional universities.
Pizza
We also have several parties, barbecues, and picnics. many of us like
to rent cheesy sci-fi movies and heckle.
