The
Idaho State University (ISU) Physics High
School Internship provides an opportunity to gain experience in the
exciting
field of physics. The Idaho State University Physics Department will be
accepting about 6 to 10 interns on a six week program,
June 10th
- July 19th, 2013.
Current High School Juniors or Seniors, as of March 1st each year, may apply if they are at least 16 years old by June 10th, 2013 and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a high ACT/SAT score. The program provides free room and board in The Rendezvous (the newest and nicest dorm on campus), food for the entire stay, weekly outside activities (including whitewater rafting and a trip to Lagoon Amusement Park), a wage of $9.00 an hour for 40hours a week, hands on experience in laboratories, and a $3,000 scholarship. |

Room
and Board
Students
will be given free room and board living on campus in ISU's newest and
nicest dorm,
Rendezvous
(finished in August 2007). The rooms are apartment style with four
separate
bedrooms, kitchen, living room, washer/dryer, and bathroom. Click on

Hall
is an all you can eat cafeteria with varying food selection. There is a
grill
open for both breakfast and dinner. You can order breakfast burritos, omelts, burgers, french-fries, etc.
Market Cafe is located in the Pond Student Union Building (SUB). Interns will be eating here for lunch with $8.00 limit. Soup, salad, deli items, grill (gyros, hamburgers, french-fries, etc.), pizza, Asian stir fry, and a variety of baked goods are available here. Activities
Interns
will be given opportunities to do fun
activities outside the work environment. Some previous activities from
last
year included: going to Lagoon Amusement Park (located
in Salt Lake City), floating down the Portnef River at Lava Spring Hot Springs, laser
taging at Outer Limits (an
arcade facility in Pocatello), bowling
and eating pizza at ISU bowling alley, and hiking in the back hills of
Pocatello.Wage and Scholarship
Interns
will be given an opportunity to earn $9.00 an hour pay based on a
40 hour work week. The $3,000 scholarship will be given to those who
attend Idaho State University and pursue a degree in Physics.
